Child Protection Policy
Wodson Park believes that it is always unacceptable for a child or young person to experience abuse of any kind, and recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people, by a commitment to Good Practice which protects them.
We recognise that:
~ the welfare of the child/young person is paramount;
~ all children, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief,
sexual orientation or identity, have the right to equal protection from all types of
harm or abuse;
~ working in partnership with children, young people, their parents/carers, their
schools, their performing arts and sports coaches, and other statutory agencies
is essential in promoting young people’s welfare.

The purpose of our Child Protection Policy:
~ To provide protection for the children and young people who use Wodson Park’s
facilities, including the children of adult members and users of our facilities; and
~ To provide our staff, sessional trainers and coaches, agency staff, students and
volunteers with guidance on procedures that they should adopt in the event that
they suspect a child or young person may be experiencing, or be at risk of, harm.

Who is responsible for implementing our Child Protection Policy:
This policy applies to All Wodson Park staff, including our:
~ Senior Managers;
~ Board of Trustees;
~ Salaried / Paid Staff;
~ Sessional Trainers and Coaches;
~ Agency Staff;
~ Students;
~ Volunteers; and
~ Anyone working on behalf of Wodson Park.

volunteers safely, ensuring all necessary checks (e.g. CRB) are made;
~ sharing information about child protection and good practice with children, their
parents/carers, our staff, sessional trainers and coaches, agency staff, students
and volunteers;
~ sharing information about our concerns with statutory agencies who need to
know, and involving children and their parents/carers appropriately;
~ providing effective management for our staff, sessional trainers and coaches,
agency staff, students and volunteers through supervision, support and training.
